WHERE THERE IS NOTHING
This work draws attention to Ireland’s ‘Wild Atlantic Way’, a 1,500-mile trail running along the entire west coast. I approached this journey with a sense of possibility, exploration and discovery and also with an awareness of the tradition of documenting the open road.
It touches upon the connections between the people, the land they occupy and the details that speak of every day life along this stretch of coastline. Furthermore, it reveals a landscape intertwined with religion and considers themes of isolation and remoteness. The photographs draw upon the notions, perceptions and shared myths, which define people’s experience of ‘The Emerald Isle’.
